Wireless Group stations on the rise
Wireless Group has welcomed encouraging growth for talkSPORT and the Group’s portfolio of national stations (talkSPORT, talkSPORT 2, talkRADIO and Virgin Radio) following the latest results posted by RAJAR*.
Wireless has reported that the combined reach of its national stations is up year-on-year and improved on the last quarter, reaching 3.6 million listeners each week who are tuning in for an average of 5.7 hours.
talkSPORT alone is now reaching an audience of over three million – up five per cent on the last quarter and talkSPORT 2 has also seen impressive growth with the station hitting its highest-ever audience at 294,000.
talkSPORT’s devoted listeners are also tuning in for longer (6.1 hours per week v 5.9 last year) and audiences remain strong across the weekday daytime schedule.
Scott Taunton, Wireless Group’s CEO, said:
“This has been a busy period across the board and we’re extremely pleased to see the reach of our national stations growing by over 17 per cent to 3.6 million, as well as strong performances at our local stations. Our sports programming continues to be the backbone of our offering and despite having had the European Football Championship in the previous quarter, talkSPORT recorded higher listening hours than in the third quarter. I’m equally thrilled to see talkSPORT 2 hit its highest ever audience”.
